Ms. Medina was born and raised in the Dominican Republic.
At a young age she began teaching languages to friends and at local churches while she pursued a career in Tourism Administration. After graduating college and exploring different career options, she discovered that her passion was education and decided to earn a M.A in Applied Linguistics. She taught Modern Languages in the Dominican K-12 and college classrooms for several years.
After moving to the United States and experiencing linguistic and cultural barriers in the American classrooms, Ms. Medina found a new purpose in education- to represent and advocate for the Latinx communities. As a Hispanic, female educator, her mission is to stand up for better education for the linguistically and culturally diverse students and create safe and equitable educational environments to help them develop their full academic and social potential. In order to scale up her new mission, she earned a M. Ed with a principal endorsement.
Before Ms. Medina joined Aspira, she served as a Teacher, MTSS Coordinator and Curriculum & Instruction Director in different Charter Schools in the city of Chicago. In August of 2023 she found home at Aspira Early College where she fell in love with the amazing culture of the teachers and staff.
Ms. Medina enjoys spending time with her daughter, travelling and trying new foods.
